How To Make Chicken Fingers
Chicken fingers are a family favorite and can be served as a quick lunch or dinner. They are great with all kinds of sauces and breading. Most people like them, and they are full of protein, making them an idea dish for parties and potlucks.
One of the keys to making tenders is to use all white breast meat. This will be tender and juicy, as well as healthy. These lean cuts are found in supermarkets as strips. They might have to be cut thinner so that they will cook easily.
Before breading, rinse the raw strips in cold water. Separate fat, if any, and then pat dry with paper towels. The fresh strips will need to be dry so they will not be soggy, or splatter if they are fried. Slice them thin with a serrated knife. Coat with egg whites. Allow the egg white to drip off, so that it is not too gooey. The crumb coating will be able to stick to this easily if the coating is even.
Create a coating mixture from packaged bread crumbs or air-dried bread that has been left out for a few days. Corn flake cereal can be crushed using a plastic bag or a food processor for a sweet, crispy coating. Flour is another coating option.
The fillets can now be placed in an oven for around 20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked on the inside. Frying will make the strips crispy, though it is unhealthy. Experiment with different oils. Also be sure to allow the strips to sit on a wire rack or paper towel to draw excess oil away from the fillet.
Try new coatings for a quick splash of variety. Coconut flakes make a delicious, crunchy new dish. Also try adding spices, such as black pepper or garlic. New flavors are delicious enough to be eaten with or without sauce.
Avoid ketchup, and change up the daily routine with a homemade sauce. Handmade honey mustard is delicious on these, as well as cranberry. Also try barbecue and hot wing sauce.
Always use an airtight container or freezer bag when storing these in the fridge or freezer. They can easily be ruined y freezer burn. Heat them in the oven for a few minutes for a very fast meal.
Chicken fingers are a quick dinner, and they’re healthy as well. They’re a crowd pleaser that can make everyone happy. Kids love to dip them in sauces and eat them with french fries or in sandwiches.
